October 2007 - Sally
The Grandmothers empowerment ceremony was quite special.
Everyone felt so loved and nourished afterward. Each woman added an
item to the altar that symbolized her power/beauty/ empowerment and
explained why it was special to her. After that they lit a candle on
the altar.
I then told your story and everyone loved it. We then performed the
ceremony as you outlined in your CD. After thanking the Grandmothers we
sang a song called "Grandmothers" that was written by a member of the
group, asking the grandmothers to guide us on our spirit path. The
woman who wrote the song wrote it before she knew anything about the
empowerment ceremony.
I also did the casting of the net meditation and read from the book
about how each woman's heart was a jewel on the net. In preparation for
the ceremony I took a piece of dark blue fish net material and added
some jewels from the craft store in a pattern similar to the one on the
cover of your book. It was hung on the wall above the altar. After the
meditation each woman took a jewel from the net to symbolize that she
is now a part of the net of light. The whole ceremony was sacred and
special. I didn't think that the Grandmothers minded that we added a
bit to it. (Sharon's note: the Grandmothers are delighted!) I would be
honored to perform it for anyone who wants the Grandmother's
empowerment.
