2007 - Nicoline, The Netherlands
I have not yet started a Grandmothers' group, however, I was assisting
a summer week of the Dances of Universal Peace here in Holland (LINK)
and there the Grandmothers (and I) were able to empower around twenty
women and give the cloak of comfort to three men. Some of the women had
read the Dutch translation of your book about the Grandmothers. They were
very happy that I could pass on the empowerment. And I was happy, too.
I asked the Grandmothers to lead the ceremony and the meditation. And
they did. We were all in it together: the Grandmothers, the women
participating and you. For of course I had consulted my notes about how
you lead our ceremony in Zoetermeer.
Because of the reactions of the women I knew the Grandmothers
had lead me. I am the sort of storyteller that few people listen to,
I simply do not have the knack. But these women told me they hung on
my lips, riveted by the stories I told from the book! This cannot have
been me, I thought! Also the enormous amount of love and energy during
the ceremony was a definite sign I was not in it on my own. Afterwards
two men who had not been there came to me to express their willingness
to receive the cloak of comfort as soon as possible. Also the next day
it turned out that the kitchen had been short of staff because of the
women receiving their empowerment.
Of course everybody was deeply moved by the empowerment, I saw and felt
much loving power. The women who received their empowerment assisted in
giving the other women their empowerment, everybody participated. During
the meditation of the Pitcher and the Cup, I repeated the phrase "You
do the living, We do the giving" several times and it was picked
up as a mantra and intoned for a minute or so. (The phrase was important
for me as dance assistant in the camp.)
